The CDFA: Farm to School program is intended to bridge the connection between BIMPOC farmers and local school districts such as Fresno Unified School District (FUSD) and Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, as well as expand students’ knowledge and awareness of various specialty crops. It is also meant to help push for the incorporation of culturally relevant food items onto school menus as a way of meeting the needs of culturally diverse students.
So far, we have been successful in increasing the number of BIMPOC farmers as school vendors for FUSD. We have been able to help these schools procure their supply of lemongrass, Thai chile, and green beans.
This program is currently managed by Peter Thao and Vila Xiong. To reach them, please call (559) 402-0067 and dial 102 for Peter and 108 for Vila.
